Why should I use 7 TEL?

7 TEL is a new service that enables you to make international calls from Spain for the price of a regional call because you only pay for a regional call and thus benefit from the reduced price of a call to a 902 number.

When you use 7 TEL, there’s no need to register online, make a purchase or provide any personal information of any kind. All you have to do is dial the 7 TEL access number. An automated message will immediately ask you for the number you’d like to call, dial your destination number and you will then be connected automatically in a matter of seconds.

You only pay for a call to a 902 number, which from a fixed line costs less than a Madrid-Barcelona call. The call will then be listed on your phone bill along with all your other calls. Another great feature of 7 TEL is that the calls you make using this service are completely anonymous. The only information that appears on your phone bill is that you called 902 055 111, plus the duration of the call. The name of the party you called remains completely secret.

Cost of a 7 TEL call from a fixed line: The cost of a 7 TEL call from a fixed line varies from 4 eurocents/min. during off-peak periods up to a maximum of 7 eurocents/min, plus an 8 eurocents connection charge, plus tax. This is less than the cost of a Madrid-Barcelona call. For information about Telefonica de Espana rates, click here or call 1004 (recorded information).

Cost of a 7 TEL call from a mobile phone: The cost of a 7 TEL call from a mobile phone is approximately the same as the cost of calling a fixed line in Spain. For example, from a Movistar phone, you pay 22 eurocents/min. during off-peak periods up to a maximum of 36 eurocents/min. during peak periods, plus a connection charge of 12 eurocents/min., plus tax. However, for exact price information you should contact your mobile phone operator since costs will vary according to your contract.

How does 7 TEL work?

You dial 902 055 111 and a recording instructs you to enter 00 plus the international number you wish to call.

You only pay the cost of a regional call, which will appear on your phone bill devoid of any additional charge. The list of calls on your phone bill will only show that among the calls you made were calls to 902 055 111. Your phone bill will not indicate the numbers you actually called via 7 TEL, which means that your privacy is completely protected.

What do I need to do in order to use 7 TEL?

You do not have to purchase anything, nor do you need a phone card or a prepaid card. The 7 TEL calls you make will be listed on your phone bill along with all your other interregional calls.

Bear in mind that 902 numbers are used by large corporations, banks, travel agencies, government ministries and so on.

Is 7 TEL more advantageous than prepaid phone cards?

7 TEL is more advantageous than prepaid cards because the service provides you with the cheapest phone rates - and phone calls - available anywhere. Since no phone cards are needed for 7 TEL, this results in printing cost savings that are passed on to the customer.

You pay no commission to a distributor or vendor of prepaid phone cards.

Here’s why 7 TEL is a much better deal than phone cards:

· Lower rates than with prepaid cards

· No cards are needed, and the resulting printing cost savings are passed on to the customer

· No distribution costs

· No commissions on card sales

· You never have to worry about running out of time in the middle of a conversation

Can I use 7 TEL from my mobile phone?

You can definitely use the service from a mobile phone.

In fact, 7 TEL is ideal for making international calls from a mobile phone because the standard rates for these calls are high, whereas with 7 TEL, the rate is very close to what you’d pay for an interregional call.

· To find out the exact cost of using 7 TEL from your mobile phone, you should contact your mobile phone operator. But here’s one example to give you an idea: From a Movistar phone, you pay 22 eurocents/min. during off-peak periods up to a maximum of 36 eurocents/min. during peak periods, plus a connection charge of 12 eurocents/min., plus tax.

You can even program your mobile phone to speed-dial the 7 TEL access number, i.e. to dial up 7 TEL with the push of a single button.

To do this, proceed as follows:

· Access the phone book menu in your mobile phone

· Set up the following speed-dial entry: 902055111p00PrefixCountryUsernumber#
(the letter "p" stands for "pause," which in Nokia phones is activated by pressing the asterisk button several times in succession).

· Save the entry in your phone book

· To make a call, select the speed-dial shortcut you allocated to 7 TEL

To find out the exact rates for 902 calls from your mobile phone, contact your mobile phone operator.

All international calls made via 7 TEL are billed at interregional rates.

Can I use 7 TEL from a public telephone?

You can make 7 TEL calls from a public telephone. The advantage over prepaid phone cards is that you only pay for the price of the call without any surcharge for calling a 900 number.

Since October 1, 2003, toll-free calls made from public telephones are subject to a connection charge of up to 40 eurocents. At that price, it pays to use 7 TEL...a lot.

Is calling time counted accurately and honestly?

Absolutely. Calling time is counted in real minutes, i.e. a full 60 seconds for each minute counted.

Many users have discovered to their dismay that the majority of prepaid cards cheat the customer by failing to provide the actual number of minutes indicated by the product information. In some cases, only half of the contractual number of minutes is provided.

If you’ve found that prepaid cards fail to supply you with the full number of minutes you paid for, you need have no such worries with 7 TEL because your calling time is clocked automatically and accurately.

Is a 902 number similar to a 906 number?

902 numbers are business numbers that you use to do things like buy movie tickets, call your bank, or inquire about airline ticket prices

902 calls cost less than interregional calls and are only a bit more expensive than local calls. It generally costs less to call a business using 902 than to call its regular number.

The great thing is that now, with 7 TEL, you can call San Francisco, Bogota, Moscow, Tokyo, Sydney, Buenos Aires and other cities for less than the price of an interregional call.

If you’re skeptical about this, you can try it out for yourself by simply going to any public phone, inserting a euro coin, and calling a number in any of the aforementioned cities. You’ll soon discover what a pleasure it is to make calls at such low rates!

How can 7 TEL be so inexpensive?

International calls via fixed lines are costly because they necessitate connections between telecom operators in various countries, most of whose equipment is obsolete and has limited capacity.

However, voice IP calls use the internet rather than phone lines, thus obviating the need for (a) costly interoperator connections and (b) the payment of fees to the various telecom operators that route calls to their final destination.

When you place a call through 7 TEL, a series of computers located in Spain receives your call and routes it in real time through a private data network to another computer that is located in the country you are calling. This process is realized automatically during your conversation. Thanks to the powerful computers and extremely high capacity data network used, you will notice no difference in quality compared with a fixed line call.

Voice IP calls are just like conventional calls: you dial a number and are connected with the person at the other end. The only difference you’ll notice is the price.

So why not try out 7 TEL today and see for yourself how much cheaper international calls can be.

7 TEL is completely legal, which means that no illegal competition of any kind is involved. Telecom operators do in fact charge for this service. You pay for the regional call and we pay the fees charged by the telecom operators in the various countries.

Illegal competition in this case would mean charging below-cost prices. But since we handle a massive number of calls every day, we purchase time from each telecom operator in such a way that the calls are much cheaper for us. This is why we are able to offer international calls via a regional phone call service such as 902 055 011.

Why isn’t it possible to make calls to an unlimited number of destinations?

Although we very much want to reduce phone costs through the use of voice IP, there are some destinations for which this is simply not possible at a low enough price to be included in the 7 TEL service, e.g. calls to mobile phones in Spain.

Our ongoing negotiations with international telecom operators are enabling us to add new destinations every month. You can obtain complete information about these destinations by checking the list of destinations.
